Pause Flash Photo Booth had the honor of working with the GEAR UP Program for their Annual Scholarship Banquet. GEAR UP, short for, Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs is a part of the University of Michigan's Office of Academic Multicultural Initiatives. The program partners with Southfield and Ypsilanti School Districts and prepares students (known as Futurez) for college, from 7th grade through their first year on campus. Through a clear vision and ongoing support, GEAR UP strives to help Futurez "make informed decisions about life after high school, see higher education as a viable option, & have the knowledge support and tools to pursue and achieve their goals and work towards social change."

The banquet honored Senior Futurez who have all received scholarships to various Colleges and Universities across the county. Together with their families, they were awarded, honored, and celebrated throughout the night. Michigan State Representative Jewell Jones served as the keynote speaker and delivered positive thoughts, motivation, and advice from his recent experience as an undergraduate student and newly elected Politician. It was truly an outstanding night. If the excitement these students showed in the Booth continues through their college careers, these Futurez are bound for success.
